Help & answers

Everything you want to know — explained simply.

No jargon, no salesy fog. Here's how Noosh actually works, what it costs, and where your data lives. Can't find it below? Tap the WhatsApp button in the corner and a real person will answer.

The 2-minute version

How Noosh works, in four steps.

If you can take a photo and tap a screen, you can run Noosh. That's the whole learning curve.

01Photograph your menu.

Snap your printed menu and the AI builds every item, price and category for you. Your till is stocked before your coffee's cold.

02Ring up sales.

Tap dishes onto a table, split the bill, take cash or card. It keeps selling through load-shedding and syncs when the power's back.

03Snap your invoices.

Photograph a supplier invoice — the AI reads it, updates your stock and costs, and files it away. No spreadsheets.

04Read the truth at breakfast.

Last night's numbers, what sold, what's running low, what to reorder — written up in plain language on your phone.

Getting started

Setting up & switching over

An afternoon, for most restaurants. Photograph your printed menu and Menu Import AI builds your items, prices and categories automatically. Add your recipes at your own pace — every dish you cost makes the stock intelligence sharper. You can be taking real orders the same day.

No. If your staff can use a phone, they can use Noosh — you tap dishes onto a table and charge, that's the core of it. There's a built-in Help section with short guides for everything, and a little AI assistant inside the app you can ask anything, any time, in your own words. It answers instantly, even offline.

Yes. Noosh can read a spreadsheet exported from your old POS or accounting system and import your sales history, expenses, stock list or customer contacts — it works out which column is which for you. Nothing has to start from zero.

Absolutely. Start free and we'll walk you through it — menu import, printers, staff logins, the lot. Email [email protected] or book a demo and a human takes you through it at your pace.

Load-shedding & offline

When the power goes

Yes — this is what Noosh was engineered around. The till, payment recording, printing and stock deduction all run locally on your device with no internet. Sales made offline are queued and reconciled automatically when power and signal return. You lose the lights, not the ledger.

It's saved safely on the device and behaves exactly like any other sale — it prints, it deducts stock, it counts toward your totals. The moment you're back online it syncs up with everything else. Nothing is lost and nothing is double-counted.

Yes. Pop your load-shedding times into the Dashboard and Noosh gives your team a heads-up before a scheduled cut, so you can print, plate and take payments ahead of the dark.

Pricing, the beta & billing

What it costs

Nothing, right now — Noosh is free during the public beta while we onboard our founding restaurants: every feature, every till, no card. The Pricing page says what that includes and what happens when the beta ends. The AI is never metered and features are never sold as extra modules.

Really free: no card, no setup fee, full features, for as long as the beta runs. If Noosh isn't earning its keep, walk away and take a full export of your data with you. No guilt, no lock-in.

None. The AI reads unlimited invoices and answers unlimited questions at no extra cost, because it runs on your own hardware. And we take no commission on your QR table orders — every rand of the sale is yours.

Your plan covers the restaurant, not a headcount of tills or logins. Add the tablets and staff you need. Multi-branch operators get every shop under one roof with the Group plan — talk to us and we'll size it to your business.

Your data & privacy

Who sees your numbers

The AI models run on-site, inside your restaurant — not in anyone else's cloud. Your sales, recipes, margins, supplier prices and guest list stay in your building. There's no per-scan or per-question fee because nothing is being shipped off to be processed elsewhere.

Never. The benchmark shows you where you stand against similar venues using anonymous percentiles only — “you're in the top 20% for margin”, not another restaurant's actual takings. Your raw numbers are never shared, and other venues appear only as anonymous codes.

It's yours. Export everything — sales, recipes, stock history, guests — in clean, standard formats at any time, on any plan. We believe restaurant software should earn your loyalty monthly, not hold your history hostage.

Keeping personal data on-site and out of third-party clouds is exactly the posture POPIA rewards. You stay in control of guest and staff information, and you can read the full detail on our privacy page.

What Noosh does

The features, plainly

Yes. Photograph a supplier invoice or a grocery till slip and the AI pulls out every line — product, quantity, price — updates your stock on hand and your costs, then files the invoice away. You review and confirm; it does the typing.

Noosh knows what your recipes should have used for the sales you rang up, and compares that to what actually left the shelf. When the two don't match — over-portioning, unlogged waste, or worse — it flags it in plain language, in rands, so you know exactly where to look. It also watches for over-ordering and quietly “86s” items when you run out.

Yes — South African payroll built in: PAYE and UIF worked out from clocked shifts, tip pooling that follows the rules, and staff meal entitlements deducted from stock at cost. Payday runs itself from the hours your team actually worked.

Noosh prepares your VAT (including the VAT201 view), runs a compliance health check, and exports a clean CSV pack your bookkeeper will actually thank you for. There's even a plain-English tax helper for the questions you'd rather not phone anyone about. It prepares the numbers; you or your accountant file them.

Yes. Put a QR code on the table and guests browse the menu and order straight to your kitchen display — no app for them to download, and no commission taken by us. Every rand of the sale is yours.

Hardware & support

Kit, printers & getting help

Usually nothing. Noosh runs in a browser on the tablet, laptop or till PC you already own. A spare tablet becomes your kitchen or customer display. Standard receipt printers, cash drawers and barcode scanners are supported — if you have them, keep them.

In most cases, yes. Noosh prints receipts with your logo and a review QR, routes kitchen and bar tickets to the right printer, and kicks the cash drawer open on cash payments. Tell us your printer model when you set up and we'll confirm.

The app has a built-in AI assistant you can ask anything — “how do I refund a paid bill?”, “how do staff claim their lunch?” — and it answers on the spot, privately, even with no internet. For anything bigger, message the team that builds Noosh straight from the app, or email [email protected].

Yes. Head Office rolls all your shops into one view so you can compare branches, spot the outlier, and manage the group without logging in and out. Chat to us about a Group setup.
